About ForgeStarter Tools

ForgeStarter Tools is an independent reference site for people getting into blacksmithing in the United States. We build calculators and buying guides for the gear beginners actually ask about: propane forges, anvils, hammers and tongs.

What makes us different. Most beginner gear content is a ranked affiliate list. We start from your numbers instead. Enter your burner BTU and tank price and we tell you what an hour of forging really costs. Paste an anvil's weight and price and we tell you whether it is a fair deal. Every product suggestion is tied to a calculator result, not a generic top-ten.

How we make recommendations. We describe product *types* and typical specs, and we always tell you to double-check the current spec sheet before buying. We do not publish prices or fake ratings, and we do not claim to have hands-on tested gear we have not. Where rules or sizes can change, we show when we last verified the information.

Who it is for. New and aspiring smiths who want to spend their first few hundred dollars well and stay safe doing it. Nothing here is professional engineering or safety certification - always follow the manuals for your equipment and your local codes.
